Don't compete with rivals - make them irrelevant

The most difficult question you can ask most law firms is 'How are you different from the firm next door?'. That is because in most cases they are not.
In a market which is getting more and more competitive and which is about to have external commercial interests unleashed within it that is a significant shortcoming.
There are only 2 bases for competition, price and differentiation.
Competing on price is a bad idea for the firm and the market.
Each firm needs to differentiate.
The aim should be to be so different that other firms cannot compete directly with you.
