Sun 19 Mar 2006

Prof. Gary Hamel Gary Hamel (Right) is one of worlds leading speakers on strategy and innovation. On March 10th at the Innovative Strategies conference in Manchester he addressed the need for innovation to achieve business success.
The aim is to build a business, which is more resilient, innovative and engaging than their competitors.
For Hamel, innovation is everything. Organisations should harness the energy of all those who work for them and encourage all of them to take part in the innovation process.
Hamel described 3 myths of innovation:
¨ Innovation is optional
¨ Innovation is risky
¨ Innovation cannot be taught

A key piece of advice for those seeking innovation is to look outside your own industry.

The seminar included a number of ideas for increasing innovation within an organisation and for sustaining it.
